Sutton Neighbourhood Fund 2023
The window has opened on applications for the funding of projects under the Council’s Neighbourhood Fund.
The Neighbourhood Fund is a portion of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) which is collected on new developments in the borough. The funds are used to support one-off infrastructure projects which help to address the demands placed by development on local areas.
The areas which funding can be applied for include:
- improvements to sustainable transport
- improvements to air quality
- increasing active travel
- improvements to walking, cycling and public transport routes
So, there’s plenty of cycling-related opportunities there!
Applications can be made at any time up to 30 July.
Croydon to Purley Cycling Corridor
Although not within the LB Sutton, you might be interested to hear about a “new” cycling corridor, in one of our neighbouring boroughs, from Croydon town centre to Purley. This article from Inside Croydon runs a critical eye over it.
On your doorstep: “The world’s
greatest festival of cycling”
A date for your diary: Sunday 28 May sees the return of ever-popular RideLondon event giving riders of all ages and abilities a rare chance to cycle on traffic-free roads in central London. It’s expected there’ll be a led-ride from Sutton town centre on the day. Look out for further details nearer the time.
Illegal parking: Here’s what you can do
Is a motor vehicle blocking your way by being parked on a pavement, on yellow lines or something similarly illegal? If so, help is at hand through the council’s parking enforcement service. Simply call Saba, the contractors, on 020 8661 0096 and fingers crossed it’ll soon be sorted.
Ride for Life:
In support of the proposed ULEZ expansion
| The UK Health Alliance on Climate Change, representing around a million of the country’s Health Professionals, is promoting a ride around the perimeter of the proposed ULEZ expansion area. The ride takes place on 13 to 15 May and includes, of course, LB Sutton. Participation isn’t restricted to health clinicians so, whether or not you happen to be one, and are interested in taking part please email mark@climateacceptancestudios.com. |
